Ship Tankers - Classification


Type of Tankers:
Based on DWT(Dead Weight). Tankers are classified in following groups: 
          Medium Range Vessels (MR) 25,000- 44,999 dwt
          Large Range 1 Vessels (LR-I) 45,000- 79,999 dwt
          Large Range 2 Vessels ( LR-II) 80,000-159,000 dwt
          Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCC) 160,000- 319,999 dwt
          Ultra Large Crude Carriers (ULCC) 320,000-549,999 dwt
Apart from above chartering Personnel have   (by usage) classified tankers aa :
 -  Afframax:  (80-120 DWT)
 -  Suezmax:  (120-160 DWT)
