Important information on Pumps

1.In Reciprocating pumps, the discharge valve should remain open during start up, where as in centrifugal pumps discharge valve should be closed.
2. Volute and diffuser imparts pressure energy from mechanical energy
3. Double volute is used to balance radial load
4. Pump out vanes will reduce axial thrust by small amount.
