The Beetle is quite probably one of the most iconic and recognised cars ever to ride on the roads of planet Earth. It was the inspiration for several other cars, including the legendary Porsche 911. So, when VW decided to revive it and give it modern trappings, it did cause a huge amount of buzz. However, it was targeted at a very narrow section of the car buying public. Now, the new Beetle is designed to appeal to a wider audience with its sportier look, lowered stance, huge alloy, quality interiors and its powertrain. In some countries, it is driven by a 2.0 litre, 4 cylinder engine that generates nearly 200 hp, although it will be toned down for India. There also should be the options of 6 speed, DSG automatic and 6 speed manual gearboxes.
