Energy saving measures in Cooling Tower : - A lot of energy can be saved during operation of cooling tower by taking following measures
• Stop cooling water flow through non-operating/ idling equipments
• Process integration and heat exchanger networking to reduce the cooling load
• Periodical cleaning of heat exchanger
• Optimize cooling water flow to maintain design dT across the heat exchanger
• Reduce the operating hours of fans based on temperature
• Provide hollow energy efficient FRP blades
• Adjust blade angle to suit the requirement
• Provide two speed motors where ever applicable
• Fills have to be maintained in perfect condition
• Periodically replace/clean choked or damaged nozzles.
Energy saving is drastically required as the resource has become scarce and there is a need to save as well alternative means of energy.
